Schröder plays down reports that Carvalho could return to Liverpool early

Rouven Schröder has reacted to reports that Fabio Carvalho's loan spell could be cut short, saying RB Leipzig want him to see out the deal.
RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder has played down reports that Fabio Carvalho's loan spell could be cut short.

Liverpool Echo and Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday that Liverpool had opened talks with Leipzig about recalling the 21-year-old early due to his limited playing time so far.

However, Schröder makes it clear that Leipzig plan to keep Carvalho until the summer, when his loan spell ends.

"These are typical power games. Fabio has a contract until summer 2024, we're absolutely happy with him. We want the kid to scratch and bite. He will get his playing time," Schröder told Bild.

Carvalho has made 13 appearances for Leipzig so far, playing a total of 347 minutes.
