Eberl: More than four candidates for Bayern job

Max Eberl has revealed that there are more than four candidates for the Bayern job and commented on suggestions that Xabi Alonso is the frontrunner.
Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has given a little insight into the club's search for a replacement for head coach Thomas Tuchel, who will step down in the summer.

In an interview with Sport Bild, Eberl revealed that Bayern have drawn up a list of more than four possible replacements.

"There are more than four names, but certainly not 40. It is our duty to think everything through - there are also unusual ideas on the list," Eberl said, adding:

"We are exchanging ideas to get the best possible essence: We need and want to get to know people and their environment. We want to find out a lot in advance and then have the two or three final discussions at the end."

Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has been touted as a top candidate for the job, but Eberl claims there's "no plan A, B or C" at the moment.

"Xabi Alonso played for Bayern. But I don't want to provoke headlines like 'Xabi fits at Bayern!' I'm talking about the fact that he knows this club," Eberl said.

"He has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen, he can win the domestic double and the Europa League.

"I haven't spoken to any coach and I haven't received any approval or rejection."
