Lewandowski: I ask my friends to call me 'Emil'

Apparently, Bayern München star Robert Lewandowski has an alter ego.
Robert Lewandowski.
Robert Lewandowski.
When you're one of the World's best strikers, it's difficult to walk around in public unnoticed. But Bayern München star Robert Lewandowski reveals he has a trick that often makes him go under the radar.

When the Polish international is out with his friends, he sometimes asks them to call him 'Emil' instead of 'Robert' or 'Lewy'.

"It is pure coincidence and I don’t use it that much, but it is helpful when we are with friends somewhere. For example, in a restaurant, we talk and laugh, but don’t use ‘Robert’ or ‘Lewy’. And in that situation I’m Emil," Lewandowski told The Guardian and added:

"No one turns around or looks in my direction. And if someone thinks they have recognised me and asks if I am Robert Lewandowski, I simply say ‘Sorry, it’s a mistake, I just look like him. I’m Emil, not Robert."

Lewandowski will be in action at the World Cup in Russia for the first time when Poland take on Senegal today.
