Lewandowski: We have more quality than Dortmund

Bayern München have more quality than Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund, according to Robert Lewandowski.
Borussia Dortmund have brought in some notable reinforcements this summer, with Mats Hummels, Thorgan Hazard, Nico Schulz and Julian Brandt all completing moves to Signal Iduna Park.

But Bayern München still have better players than their Bundesliga rivals, according to Robert Lewandowski.

"Dortmund have done a lot, they have a large squad. But in the end, it's not about quantity, but about quality. And there's one thing I'm sure of: we have the players with the most quality," the Bayern striker told Sport Bild.

Lewandowski urged Bayern to make further signings after the Bavarians brought in Benjamin Pavard, Lucas Hernandez and Jann-Fiete Arp at the beginning of the transfer window.

Since then, the German champions have boosted their ranks with the acquisitions of Michael Cuisance, Ivan Perisic and Philippe Coutinho, and Lewandowski is pleased with the new arrivals.

"I had a good talk with [Bayern sporting director] Hasan Salihamidzic and [Bayern CEO] Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and had my questions answered. After that, I knew that something would still happen and that the club would bring in more quality. That was important to me and calmed me down," Lewandowski said.

"I'm very satisfied and consider these three players to be useful reinforcements. I believe it's important to not only have a good starting eleven, but players who can decide games from the bench as well," he added.

After taking four points from their first two Bundesliga games of the season, Bayern will be up against Mainz on Saturday.
