Bayern Munich came from behind to defeat Real Madrid 4–3 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night, securing their place in the Champions League semi-finals.
Speaking after the match, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl expressed his delight and praised the team’s resilience and fighting spirit.
“We are very, very happy. It was already a very tough challenge at the Bernabéu. Today we made things a bit difficult for ourselves at the start. But the game shows what we are like: we keep coming back. We made it 1-1, then fell behind again. We made it 2-2, then went behind once more. And in the end we won,” Eberl said.
“That describes the character of this team quite well. We can play football, but above all we can fight back and stay stable. It just feels fantastic.
“This team and this club are completely alive, they stand together. That energy doesn’t just come from the pitch, but also from outside. You can feel it – and that makes us strong.”
