Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka admitted he wanted to fully enjoy the moment of winning the Bundesliga title, but his competitive nature once again took over on the pitch - and after the game.

“We really wanted to win today and to do it the way we have for months,” Goretzka said. “We approach every game the same way, which was a big challenge after the Real Madrid match on Wednesday.”

With his departure at the end of the season already known, the Germany international acknowledged the added significance of the title. “I told myself I would soak everything in and enjoy it, because it’s my last Bundesliga title with Bayern,” he explained. “But I’m too competitive for that - I just really wanted to win today.”

That mentality, he added, has been a defining trait throughout his career in Munich. “It characterises my career and my time at Bayern. So it doesn’t surprise me that the day went the way it did.”

Reflecting on his spell at the club, Goretzka spoke with appreciation. “I have always felt comfortable at Bayern and it has been a great fit. I’m happy for everything I can still take with me in these final weeks.”

The midfielder also expressed confidence in the club’s future, highlighting emerging talents in the squad. “The future in Bayern’s midfield looks good. Players like Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof have recently shown that they are already very important for the team and can decide matches. I’m not worried about the future at all.”

As Goretzka enters the final stretch of his Bayern career, he does so with another Bundesliga title, his seventh, secured.
