"I now have a contract for this season, and the probability is high that it will be the last," Gebre Selassie told the Weser-Kurier.
The 33-year-old is expecting to make a decision on his future in the winter.
"The most important thing is how things are at home. My wife and I will talk about it, and then we'll make a decision together."
Gebre Selassie has played for Werder Bremen since 2012, making 259 appearances with 20 goals and 16 assists to his name.
