Jerome Boateng says he was surprised by a recent Bild report claiming that Bayern München have decided against extending his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

"Nobody approached me, nobody spoke to me, I knew nothing about it, I was surprised," the centre-back told Süddeutsche Zeitung.

"I feel appreciation from the coach and in the team. We'll see about the rest," he added.

The 23-year-old has played for Bayern since 2011, making a total of 333 appearances with nine goals and 24 assists to his name.
