Five Bundesliga Americans approved for limited USMNT call-up

The US Soccer Federation (USSF) released its list of call-ups for the coming international break on Wednesday. Five Bundesliga professionals made the USMNT squad.

In accordance with current federal travel restrictions in the Bundesrepublik, however, John Anthony Brooks, Chris Richards, Tyler Adams, Giovanni Reyna, and Josh Sargent are only eligible to play the first of two friendlies.

Gregg Berhalter's USMNT is scheduled to play two friendlies, both in Europe, during the international break. Five US internationals will be allowed to participate in a March 25th fixture against CONCACAF rivals Jamaica just south of Vienna.

The American FA has nevertheless reached an agreement with all five Bundesliga clubs currently employing the players that the quintet will immediately return to Germany after the match and not join the team for its trip to Northern Ireland its next match against the Irons.

The reason for this is the much reported on travel restrictions put in place by the Bundesrepublik's Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The current order necessitates a 14-day-quarantine for all incoming travelers who have visited a country where new COVID variants are deemed prevalent. The U.K. currently sits on this list whilst Austria does not.

The Bundesrepublik's quarantine regulations are set to expire on March 31st.
