Reports: Rangnick officially off the table in Frankfurt, talks continue with Igli Tare

Sky Germany, Sport Bild, and Sport 1 all now report that the topic of Ralf Rangnick assuming some sort of position at Eintracht Frankfurt is officially off the table.

Not long after news reports linking Ralf Rangnick with Eintracht Frankfurt began to surface, several German media outlets cast doubt on the possibility that either side would consider it a good fit. There's now widespread corroboration that the talks between the 62-year-old and the club have broken off.

Recently appointed SGE supervisory board spokesman Axel Hellmann spoke with journalists in a virtual media round on Thursday. Speaking in a calm and composed manner, the executive conveyed a strategy to restaff the club's administrative department in a piecemeal fashion. This essentially confirmed that Hellman didn't want to pursue a multi-hat wearer like Rangnick.

"We have vacancies, but it's not a vacuum," Hellmann said, "That's a key point because, even behind the top people, there are always people doing work for them and preparing things."

Hellman's words seemed to suggest that the club is considering internal promotions. In article appearing on German footballing magazine Kicker's online website, journalist Julian Franzke (who has close access to Hellman) nevertheless reiterates the rumor that Igli Tare of Lazio Rome is a serious candidate to fill the sporting director position.
