Germany fell a shock 2-0 defeat to Slovakia in their opening World Cup qualifier on Thursday in Bratislava.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side struggled throughout, and centre-back Jonathan Tah admitted after the game that the loss was fully deserved.

“We had problems in all phases,” Tah said.

“We had very little control that’s why we completely deserved to lose. It was a very, very weak performance from us.

“We need to review it and be honest with ourselves. It was very surprising for all of us that it went this way. We all need to take a hard look at ourselves.”

Germany will be eager to bounce back when they face Northern Ireland on Sunday.
