As in previous seasons, we’ll highlight 10 players to consider adding to your Fantasy Bundesliga team ahead of each matchday.
This season, however, we’re not just focusing on differentials, but will provide general recommendations ahead of each matchday.
Here are our picks for Matchday 3:
Kevin Diks, Borussia Mönchengladbach (Defender, 5.37M, 2%)
After arriving at Gladbach with an impressive scoring record from his previous club, FC Copenhagen, and converting a penalty in pre-season, Diks looked like an exciting option at the start of the season. However, that enthusiasm was dampened when he picked up a knock in the DFB-Pokal and didn't start in Gladbach’s Bundesliga opener as a result. Now fully fit, he looks like an intriguing option once again as Gladbach prepare to host a Werder side that has struggled so far this season. His appeal is even bigger now, as a modest return so far has driven his price down.
Yan Couto, Borussia Dortmund (Defender, 5.97M, 3%)
The attacking wing-back has started the season in impressive fashion and topped the scoring charts among defenders on Matchday 2 with 337 points. Priced at just 5.97m, he offers excellent value for money as long as he continues to start. Julian Ryerson provides tough competition for the right wing-back spot, but it’s hard to see BVB coach Niko Kovac dropping the Brazilian after the performance he delivered last time out.
Jarell Quansah, Bayer Leverkusen (Defender, 10.33M, 27%)
Impressively, despite Leverkusen’s poor start to the season, Quansah has been the best-performing defender in the game so far, accumulating 553 points in total. His 365-point haul on Matchday 1 was boosted by a goal, but on the following matchday he wasn’t involved in any of Leverkusen’s goals against Bremen and conceded three, yet still managed a respectable 188 points. With Bayer 04 now under the guidance of new coach Kasper Hjulmand, the club will be looking to get back on track - and this could enable Quansah to perform even better.
Mert Kömür, Augsburg (Midfielder, 5.58M, 5%)
Playing as a false nine, the 20-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding start to the season, picking up an impressive 266 points last time out after scoring against Bayern. He has been nursing an injury during the international break but is still expected to start on Sunday as of Thursday morning. In any case, be sure to check up on Kömür's fitness before Friday’s deadline if you’re considering him.
Jakub Kaminski, FC Köln (Midfielder 5.96M, 8%)
Playing in a similar role to Kömür, Kaminski is another budget-friendly midfield option who has made an impressive start to the season. After scoring over 200 points in each of his first two games for Köln, he carried his good form into the international break, finding the net for Poland and should be brimming with confidence. On top of that, he’ll likely be extra motivated facing his parent club, Wolfsburg.
Patrick Wimmer, Wolfsburg (Midfielder, 8.88M, 11%)
A long-time Fantasy favourite, Wimmer has started the season in convincing fashion, averaging 216 points per game. While Köln have exceeded expectations, Wolfsburg will go into their home clash as favourites, and the Austrian international is likely to play a key role in their attacking play, as always.
Michael Olise, FC Bayern (Midfielder, 25.1M, 36%)
Olise has picked up right where he left off last season, scoring three goals in just two Bundesliga games. His price tag is steep, but given his consistent points returns, it’s surprising to see his popularity at only 36 percent. With Bayern hosting a struggling HSV side, he’s one player you don’t want to miss out on this weekend.
Andreas Hountondji, St. Pauli (Striker, 5.74M, 0%)
Houtondji has made an instant impact at St. Pauli, averaging 201 points, and is one of the most interesting budget-friendly attackers who actually plays as a No. 9. With St. Pauli's upcoming opponents, Augsburg, struggling with injuries at the back, his appeal ahead of the upcoming fixture is even greater.
Serge Gnabry, FC Bayern (Striker, 12.51M, 9%)
With Olise and Kane clearly the top two Bayern picks, the big question is who should be your third Bayern player this week as the champions prepare for a favorable home clash against HSV. Luis Diaz is certainly an option, though there’s speculation he could be rested after his long flight back from international duty with Colombia. Additionally, Diaz comes with a hefty price tag. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, Gnabry could be the ideal choice.
Harry Kane, FC Bayern (Striker, 24.1M, 37%)
The highest-scoring player in the game so far, Kane is as close to a must-have player as you get. The England captain showed what he's capable of against Leipzig on Matchday 1, and there’s a real chance of a similarly impressive return as Bayern host HSV.
