After joining VfL Wolfsburg as a free agent last week, Christian Eriksen was included in the squad for Saturday’s 3-3 Bundesliga draw with 1. FC Köln.

The Denmark international, however, did not make his debut and will have to remain patient for now.

“I had hoped to get a few minutes, but it’s a bit different,” he told Kicker, reflecting on his experience being part of the squad for the Köln match, which coincided with the club’s 80th anniversary celebration.

“Still, I really enjoyed experiencing the atmosphere and seeing how people celebrated this special day.”

For Eriksen, the Bundesliga is uncharted territory after previous stints in the Netherlands, Italy, and England.

“I’ve already seen many other places. Now I need to get used to the German league,” the 33-year-old continued.

“It’s fun to follow the Bundesliga; there’s a lot going on. The games are open, with plenty of chances on both sides, which I hope to benefit from," added the former Manchester United midfielder.

Eriksen could make his Wolfsburg debut against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
