Official: SC Freiburg extend contract of Maximilian Eggestein

The 29-year-old has made 218 appearances for SC Freiburg, scoring 15 goals and assisting a further 13 in total.

In becoming a mainstay over the last few seasons, Maximilian Eggestein has extended his contract with SC Freiburg.

Joining from SV Werder Bremen just over five years ago, the Hanover native has long since established himself as a pillar of the team

As confirmed by the Breisgau club today, Thursday, their vice-captain has penned a new deal to keep him in Breisgau.

The central midfielder was even recently hailed by sporting director Jochen Saier as the “perfect Freiburg player”.

“You need an anchor in every development process within a team and Maxi is a key figure in our team," Saier added.

"His quality on the pitch, his professionalism and his social skills are of immense value to our game and our development as a side. 

“We’re really looking forward to continuing our work with him in the future." – the length of the new contract was kept confidential by the club.
