Bayern Munich have confirmed that Joao Palhinha has pulled out of Portugal's squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Poland and Croatia.

The defensive midfielder is suffering from a groin problem and will now head back to Munich for further treatment.

According to Sky Germany, Palhinha's injury is expected to keep him out for around three weeks following initial examinations in Portugal.

Palhinha's playing time at Bayern has increased since Aleksandar Pavlovic broke his collarbone in the 4-0 win over Stuttgart in mid-October.

The 29-year-old has started five of Bayern's last six games in all competitions.
