St. Pauli coach Alexander Blessin slipped to a seventh consecutive league defeat against SC Freiburg this afternoon and gave his thoughts on where his side lost game.

"Overall, it was a deserved victory for Freiburg. We opted for a more defensive approach and executed it well for the first half hour. Our focus was on stability and short passing sequences.

"Apart from Jan-Niklas Beste's half-chance, we didn't concede much. We had them well under control and allowed them to play where they posed little threat.

"After winning possession, we lost the ball too quickly. We opted for long balls too often, even when the far side was open. Up until then, it was okay, but then we conceded a silly goal.

"Nevertheless, we didn't want to compromise our defensive stability because we knew we would get our chances. Going 2-0 down naturally made things more difficult.

“But the team then gave it their all, and the goal gave them momentum. The team didn't give up. We need to take the positives from the final minutes,” he explained.
