Rot-Weiss Essen have quietly strengthened their squad at the last minute, with Dickson Abiama arriving from 1.FC Kaiserslautern.

The strike is on the verge of joining the club at the Hafenstraße stadium on loan with an option to buy if they are promoted, per Sky Germany.

As things stand, Essen find themselves just outside the play-off and direct promotion places by one and two points respectively.

So far this campaign, the 27-year-old Nigerian has made just 10 appearances combined in the 2.Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal with no goals.

Meanwhile, Essen have also reacted to the injury sustained by goalkeeper Jakob Golz and signed free agent Tino Casali (30).

The Austrian shot-stopper was last employed by RSC Altach but didn't make a single appearance in the Austrian Bundesliga.
