It appears Wolfsburg's dreams of a new marksman have been dashed once again.

According to the WAZ newspaper, VfL Wolfsburg have withdrawn from the running for Josh Sargent.

An improved offer of €19 million from Die Wölfe was considered too low for EFL Championship side Norwich City.

There, the former Bremen player Sargent is one of the top performers and was voted the Canaries' best player of the 2024-25 season.

His employers have since remained adamant and unwilling to let go of the 25-year-old who is under contract with the side until 2028.

Sargent had already reached an agreement with VfL and was supposed to join the Lower Saxony club's training camp in the coming days.

However, that didn't happen and the American becomes the second striker to see his move fall through after Wolverhampton's Fabio Silva.
