Manuel Neuer is suspended for Bayern Munich’s DFB-Pokal first-round clash against Wehen Wiesbaden on Wednesday, after being sent off in last season’s cup exit against Bayer Leverkusen.

As a result, Jonas Urbig will get the opportunity in goal, and head coach Vincent Kompany has full confidence in the 22-year-old.

“He's worked very hard,” said Kompany at his pre-match press conference.

"Obviously with Manuel Neuer, he has a great role model in front of him. He's prepared very well and gone about his work very well, including at the Club World Cup.

"I see that he's made steps forward and hopefully the fans will also see that again."

Urbig has previously made 12 appearances for Bayern.
