VfL Wolfsburg are keen to tie down Denis Vavro to a long-term contract, according to Germany’s popular sports magazine Kicker.

The Slovakian international arrived in Lower Saxony on loan just before the summer transfer window shut back in August.

It proved to be a shrewd bit of business for Die Wolfe as Moritz Jenz departed for Mainz while Crystal Palace coughed up €18million for Maxence Lacroix.

Wolfsburg’s managing director, Peter Christiansen, had the bright idea of turning to his former club in FC Copenhagen to acquire an out-of-favour Vavro.

Despite stiff competition from the likes of Cedric Zesiger and Sebastian Bornauw, the Slovakian has managed to tie down a starting spot in the heart of defence alongside Konstantinos Koulierakis.

With 15 appearances and 1 goal to his name already, Kicker suggests there is an air of inevitability that the 28-year-old centre-half will join permanently.

A fee rumoured to be in the region of €2million owed to the Danish club would be more than feasible for Wolfsburg come summer.
