According to FußballTransfers.com, a change in formations next season at Borussia Dortmund could enable the return of Jason Sancho.

The report suggests a fundamental discussion is set to take place at BVB regarding the club's intended future direction.

Among several topics, returning to a tactical system which involves wingers in a 4-2-3-1 setup is being mooted as an option.

As a result, Niko Kovač's team would require one less defender and one more attacker to pull off said tactical switch.

Sancho – who was linked with BVB before ultimately joining Aston Villa last summer – could fill that void at the Westphalian side.

Financial constraints prevented Dortmund from signing the 25-year-old, but now he could be available on a free transfer in summer.

With Manchester United set to offload the winger, Sancho will have to make peace with not earning the same €12million salary at BVB.

So far this campaign in his 23 games across all competitions for Villa, Sancho has one Europa League goal and one Premier League assist.
