According to information from Sport BILD, Juventus star Weston McKennie is attracting particular interest from Bayer Leverkusen.
It's believed that the Bundesliga club are still on the hunt to find “the next Xhaka'” after the Swiss international left for Sunderland last summer.
The report states Leverkusen are also keeping tabs on TSG Hoffenheim's Grischa Prömel, but hold him to a lower standard than McKennie.
The 31-year-old German is already in talks with VfB Stuttgart – Leverkusen will therefore have to act quickly if they decide to sign him.
However, despite 140 Bundesliga appearances, the question remains whether Prömel can actually raise the team's performance level.
For this reason, Leverkusen's sporting director Simon Rolfes is said to be more intrigued by former Schalke 04 midfielder McKennie.
Not only is the American younger, but he also brings Champions League experience and his contract also expires in Turin next summer.
The growing interest in a new midfielder is not only related to sporting aspects, but also to the transfer rumors surrounding Aleix Garcia.
The Spaniard was repeatedly linked with clubs from his home country during the winter transfer window, including Atletico Madrid.
