After four years at VfL Wolfsburg, Patrick Wimmer is set to leave the Volkswagen Arena.

According to Sky Germany, a full agreement has been reached with TSG Hoffenheim, with the 25-year-old winger expected to undergo his medical on Wednesday ahead of the move.

Hoffenheim informed Wolfsburg on Monday that they would activate the €10 million release clause in Wimmer’s contract, which became active following Wolfsburg’s relegation.

If everything goes according to plan, Wimmer will sign a long-term deal running until 2031 with Hoffenheim.

Brighton & Hove Albion were also linked with the player, but everything indicates Hoffenheim have won the race, with Sky reporting that there has been no late attempt from the Premier League side to hijack the deal.
