VfB Stuttgart forward Ermedin Demirović made his frustration very clear when he was substituted in the 70th minute of Sunday’s 4-0 win over Hamburger SV.

Unlike his four teammates Angelo Stiller, Chris Führich, Maximilian Mittelstädt, and Bilal El Khannouss, Demirović did not get on the scoresheet, much to his own frustration.

Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß, however, would have liked the striker to have toned it down a bit.

“I would have preferred that the whole stadium did not see the frustration. It has to be possible to hide that,” Hoeneß said in a post-match interview, but added that he was not “angry with him”.

Demirović, meanwhile, revealed he quickly realised his mistake and apologised to his coach.

“I overreacted there. It was a mix of things,” said Demirović, who had a goal ruled out for offside in the win.

“The frustration came out. I wanted to make it clear straight away that I’m not a troublemaker. That’s why I wanted to sort it out immediately,” added the forward.

Demirović has 12 goals and four assists in 31 games for the Bundesliga side in all competitions this season.
