Florian Wirtz has picked up the Bundesliga’s Player of the Month award for January. The mercurial Bayer Leverkusen talent has clamed the prize for a second consecutive month having bagged the December edition also.

The 21-year-old was at his brilliant best since the new year with 2 goals and 2 assists in January despite just a cameo appearance off the bench against Borussia Dortmund.

With an average of 11.5 kilometres clocked up per game and a hand in 19 shots in goal across the month, the latter stat only bettered by strikers Hugo Eketike and Harry Kane, its clear to see why Wirtz has come out on top yet again.

Valued at €140million by Transfermarkt.de, Florian Wirtz faced some stiff competition from other Bundesliga clubs' players for the accolade.

Die Werkself’s star managed to outshine five other nominees including Bayern Munich duo Joshua Kimmich and Michael Olise, as well as RB Leipzig pair Willi Orban and Xavi Simons.

The fifth and final rival was Werder Bremen’s Romano Schmid who impressed with 11 shot contributions, 82 possessions per game, and 107 duels contested in 4 outings.
