Gittens pushes for starting role after brace

After scoring a brace for Borussia Dortmund against Club Brugge, Jamie Gittens says he wants to be more than just a super sub.

Jamie Gittens came to Borussia Dortmund's rescue against Club Brugge on Wednesday, scoring the first two goals in their 3-0 win.

It's the second time the young winger has scored a brace off the bench, having done the same in Dortmund's 2-0 Bundesliga win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Speaking to DAZN after the game, Gittens said he believes he's made a good case for starting.

"I come off the bench and still try to make an impact. I saw from the bench that there was space and they were defending very high," he said.

"We won the game and the two goals make me very happy, but I hope to soon score goals not only as a substitute for BVB. The plan is to play from the start and not just come off the bench," added Gittens.

Dortmund face Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
