In his press conference, Werder Bremen head coach Horst Steffen revealed their growing list of absentees ahead of their trip to Heidenheim.

The Green-Whites are missing the long-term injured Mitchell Weiser, Maximilian Wöber (muscle injury), Olivier Deman (ankle).

Niklas Stark (hip problems), and Felix Agu (syndesmosis ligament injury) are also out while Isaac Schmidt is sidelined with a foot injury.

Steffen questioned Mio Backhaus' involvement or the participation of Jens Stage, with the final training session to answer those questions.

“Some games they shouldn't have lost. In Hamburg, for example, they had a lot of chances to score. There's no sign of a slowdown in their style," Steffen said of Heidenheim.

"We know what to expect. They have a high level of activity, passion, and intensity in their game, along with a lot of deep runs, which they do well. It's up to us to defend well and hold our own.

“When we have the ball, we have to find playful solutions and launch creative attacks, and to do that, we have to be fully present on set pieces,” he added.
