Ahead of their Bundesliga relegation play-off first-leg against SC Paderborn tomorrow, Dieter Hecking has admitted that one key name will be absent for both games.

“Patrick Wimmer won't be able to play tomorrow – and probably not in the second leg either. He's still feeling something,” Hecking said in his press conference.

“I already told the team on Monday that we can only field players who are at 100 percent. Kilian Fischer and Jonas Wind might be available on Monday,” he added.

Regarding the game itself, Hecking seemed to suggest that the Autostadt club has been planning for this for a while and clearly want to implement a certain game plan.

"We've said from day one: If we can play in the relegation play-offs, it's a success. If we'd told you that nine weeks ago, you would have asked: How is that supposed to work?

"We won those relegation play-offs just like Paderborn. We want to focus on ourselves and do our jobs well, both with and without the ball.

“If we can do well against Bayern, who are certainly versatile, we'll do it against Paderborn too. It's a matter of showing the same discipline and covering the same ground,” he explained.
