Germany veteran Thomas Muller has probably played his last game for his country.
Speaking after Germany's 2-1 Euro 2024 quarter-final defeat to Spain, the 34-year-old said his international career is probably over.
"There is a good chance that this was my last international match," Müller told Sky Germany after the game.
In an Instagram post, Müller made a more general statement about the tournament.
“I'm proud to be part of this team and, above all, proud to be German. Thank you to everyone who cheered us on and were great hosts. Let's take this feeling with us into our everyday lives, especially in the current times," he wrote.
Manuel Neuer was less definitive when asked about his future with the national team, saying only that it could take six months or more before he decides whether to continue representing Germany.
Müller made his Germany debut in 2010 and has since featured 131 times for his country, racking up 45 goals and 41 assists.
Neuer, 38, has represented his country 123 times since he made his Germany debut in June 2009.
