Reflecting on tonight's 4-0 thrashing of Hansa Rostock in the DFB-Pokal first round, Sebastian Hoeneß was pleased with his VfB Stuttgart side's efforts.
“Our objective was to reach the second round, and now we’re happy to have won comfortably," he told various media after the game.
“The early goals helped the game settle down. We need to keep our feet on the ground despite this good start,” the 44-year-old warned.
Meanwhile, hattrick hero and debutante Dzenan Pejčinović was more than content to share his thoughts on the comfortable win.
“First and foremost it was important to reach the next round here. I’m pleased with my debut and that I was able to repay the faith put in me.
"After going 2-0 up I felt that we needed to step things up a bit, which we managed to do. I'm really happy to have scored three tonight.
“Now we’re shifting our focus onto training in the coming week and the start of the Bundesliga campaign,” he concluded.
