Hoeness bans club legend Paul Breitner from Bayern's VIP stand

Bayern München president Uli Hoeness has banned club legend Paul Breitner from the VIP box at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern München president Uli Hoeness and former German international Paul Breitner are not on speaking terms. According to Bild, Hoeness has forbidden the Bayern München legend to sit at the VIP stand at the Allianz Arena.

The two Bayern legends, who played together for the Bavarian club between 1970 and 1974, fell out about a month ago after Breitner publicly criticized Hoeness following the extraordinary press conference held by the Bayern bosses.

Breitner, who worked as a brand ambassador for Bayern until 2017, has confirmed that he received a call from Jan-Christian Dreesen, the club's financial director, who informed him that he has been banned from sitting at the VIP stand.

"There was a call from Mr. Dreesen. He told me that Uli Hoeness has suggested me not to show up as a guest of honor for the foreseeable future. I told him that I didn't expect to do so anyway and that there is somebody I don't want to see at the moment anyway," Breitner told Bild and added:

"I then decided to return the two honor cards that I received as an honorary captain to Mr. Dreesen personally. I don't want to give the impression that I want free tickets."

Breitner, who won the European Championship and the World Cup with Germany, played for Bayern München from 1970 to 1974 when he left to join Real Madrid. Eventually, he returned to play for Bayern in 1978 until he retired in 1983.
