A winter transfer could be on the cards for Timo Werner, with RB Leipzig eager to get the 29-year-old striker off their payroll six months before his contract expires.

While it has previously been suggested that Werner’s preferred destination is Inter Miami, another MLS club is now showing interest.

According to Bild, the San José Earthquakes have already made contact with Werner’s representatives to discuss a potential winter move, but have yet to reach out to RB Leipzig.

The German tabloid adds that Werner is open to options beyond Inter Miami, with the deciding factor being the overall package on offer.

The former Chelsea striker has played just two minutes of football this season.
