FC Augsburg are still searching for a replacement for Sandro Wagner, who was relieved of his duties as head coach in early December.

According to Bild, Ralph Hasenhüttl is among the top candidates for the role.

The 58-year-old last served as head coach of VfL Wolfsburg, who parted ways with him in May.

Augsburg have previously announced that Manuel Baum will remain interim coach until the winter break, after which he will return to his position as head of development and football innovation.

According to Bild, the Bundesliga outfit hope to find a new coach by Christmas at the latest.

Former Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has also been linked with the job, but he is now reportedly close to taking over at Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad.
