Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter suffered a fractured eye socket and jawbone in the weekend's 4-1 win over Hannover 96.

The game was interrupted for several minutes after Ginter clashed with Hannover's Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee, and the German international was subsequently taken to the hospital.

Now, he has given a update on the injury from the hospital bed:

"Yes, I know it still looks crooked, and I can't laugh properly yet, but otherwise, I'm fine. Thank you for the huge sympathy from many different groups of supporters. I'll be back as soon as possible," Ginter stated on Twitter.

Until now, Ginter has played every game for Gladbach since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
