Augsburg coach Martin Schmidt is aware that Philipp Max dreams of taking the next step in his career.

At the beginning of June, Philipp Max hinted that he's thinking about leaving FC Augsburg this summer.

"Since 2015, I have been told by the club that FCA are a stepping stone for me There are a few topics between me and Augsburg that I think about a lot," the left-back told TZ.

Now, Augsburg coach Martin Schmidt has commented on Max's statements and made an assessment of the 25-year-old's situation at the club.

"We don't attach any value to something like that here. I look Philipp Max in the eyes every day and see him hanging in," Schmidt told Sport Bild and added:

"He wants to take the next step as a professional, I know that. That's Philipp's dream. But he knows that he can only take the next step if there is a concrete opportunity to do so, and something like that is always based on performance."

Max's contract with Augsburg runs until 2022.
