Ter Stegen hits back at Neuer over 'inappropriate' comments

Marc-André ter Stegen says it was 'inappropriate' for Manuel Neuer to criticize him for expressing his desire to play more for Germany.
Marc-André ter Stegen recently voiced his desire to play more for Germany, admitting it was a 'tough blow' for him not to feature in any of his country's games against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland earlier this month.

Manuel Neuer, who started both games in goal, was left unimpressed by ter Stegen's comments and described his statements as unhelpful.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, ter Stegen hit back at Neuer, saying it was 'inappropriate' for the Bayern keeper to criticize him.

"You can see how I have behaved in recent years and I don't think that Neuer or others have to talk about my feelings or assess them," ter Stegen said ahead of Barcelona's clash with Dortmund, as quoted by ESPN.

"His remarks were inappropriate but I don't want to say much more, I want to bring an end to all this controversy," he added.

Ter Stegen and FC Barcelona will be up against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park in the Champions League tonight.
