Matheus Cunha claims he rejected interest from other clubs to join Hertha BSC from RB Leipzig in January.

According to reports, Betis and Brighton and Hove Albion were among the 20-year-old's suitors, but he ultimately opted for a move to the German capital.

"I like Hertha very much and have watched their games in the past. I knew I could help the club. There were offers from other clubs, but I want to achieve great things with Hertha," Cunha said in an interview with Kicker.

The striker then went on to underline that he remains keen on playing for Hertha even though Jürgen Klinsmann is no longer the coach of the club.

"He was the coach. We know what qualities he brought with him. I was pleased with the offer. But I want to emphasize that I didn't come here just for him, but for Hertha. Everything I agreed with Hertha still applies," Cunha said.

Cunha made his debut for Hertha in last week's 2-1 win over Paderborn away from home.
