Mario Götze is widely expected to leave Borussia Dortmund when his deal expires at the end of the season and has been linked with Bayer Leverkusen and Hertha BSC in recent weeks.

However, Leverkusen boss Simon Rolfes was quick to downplay speculation that the 27-year-old could be headed to BayArena.

According to a report from Sport Bild, Götze isn't interested in joining Leverkusen anyway, nor is he keen on making the move to Hertha.

As per the German media outlet, the midfielder would prefer a move abroad, with Italy set to be his favorite destination.

But with all clubs suffering financially due to the corona crisis, it might be difficult for Götze to find a new employer, who will be able to match his current annual salary of €8 million.

Moving to China or the United States is reportedly out of the question for the 27-year-old.
