Borussia Mönchengladbach started the second half of the season with an emphatic 4-0 win over FC Augsburg. Eugen Polanski talks with the media after Haris Tabakovic’s brace helped them to climb to tenth in the standings.

“This is exactly how we wanted to start the year,” said the 39-year-old coach. “We played with a lot of energy, especially in the first half. Our defending was also on the front foot by stepping out bravely, forcing the opposition into long balls, and drawing them into lots of duels. That worked well.”

Tabakovic, who is now the joint-second top-scorer with nine goals, also talked about their good start to the year before looking forward to the game against his parent club on matchday 17.

“It’s an incredibly good start to the year. We did a lot of things very well from the first minute, and saw out the game very solidly. Now it’s about building on this performance on Wednesday in Hoffenheim.”
