Felix Kroos returns to the second division with Eintracht Braunschweig
His journey with 1. FC Union Berlin now complete, the newly promoted Löwens of Lower Saxony seek to get at least two more years out Toni Kroos' younger brother. Felix Kroos joins Braunschweig on a free with a contract until 2022

Midfielder Felix Kroos, whose contract was not renewed by top-tier side 1. FC Union Berlin at the conclusion of last season, will spend the 2020/21 campaign playing for newly promoted side Eintracht Braunschweig in the second-division. Kroos’ long tenure with the capital’s smaller officially came to an end following 112 appearances for the Eisernen and many memorable moments.
“I had the privilege of donning the red and white for four and a half years,” the one-time Union captain noted in a released statement, “We weathered some difficult phases, yet still made history and celebrated some enormous successes in the last two years. I identified myself with this team 100 percent from the first second until the last. I lived [FC Union] inside and out.”
It remains unclear if the 29-year-old Kroos will have a regular role at his new club. Braunschweig sporting director Peter Vollman hinted that conversations with Kroos carried with them at least some tacit promises of playing time. “The conversations were very target-oriented from the start and characterized by clear language,” Vollmann wrote on the club website, “We are very happy to be able to bring him to Hamburger Straße”.
