Robert Lewandowski it set to make his long-awaited return from injury when Bayern München face Mainz on Saturday.

Bayern München star Robert Lewandowski is on track to make his return from injury against Mainz in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

"He is certainly an option for Saturday. We're glad that things are moving so quickly forward for him," FC Bayern coach Hansi Flick told reporters after Tuesday's 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen.

The Polish international, who has missed Bayern's last six games in all competitions due to a knee injury, resumed training last week.

Lewandowski has scored 42 goals and made eight assists in 36 games for Bayern this season.
