Report: St. Pauli interested in acquiring Danish striker on loan

Portuguese sporting publication "Record" reports that newly-promoted Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli is interested in obtaining Benfica striker Casper Tengstedt on loan.

Portugal's "Record" newspaper reports that Hamburg's FC St. Pauli have initiated contact with SL Benfica over potentially acquiring Danish striker Casper Tengstedt on loan. The 24-year-old former Midtjylland academy man joined the Portugal capital city side in January 2023. Since then, he's netted four goals and registered three assists in 21 league appearances for AS Águias. Last season, he added four assists in 14 UCL, UEL, and domestic cup appearances.

Benfica are seeking a transfer fee of approximately €7 million from interested buyers, the same price they paid for Tengstedt some 18 months. A move to the newly promoted Bundesliga side may be hindered by the fact prospective buyers (such as RCD Espanyol) may be willing to invest that sum. Benfica may nevertheless prefer to retain Tengstedt via a loan arrangement. St. Pauli could potentially promise regular playing time for the Danish youth international.
