Borussia Dortmund managing director for sport Lars Ricken has underlined the club’s desire to keep Serhou Guirassy at the club for the long term.
The Guinea international has consistently been linked with a move away from Signal Iduna Park, with recent reports suggesting that Manchester United are weighing up a move for the striker.
However, Ricken has made it clear that Dortmund are happy with the 30-year-old, who is under contract until 2028, and would like to keep him at the club.
“In Serhou’s case, speculation about a possible departure began almost as soon as we signed him. I can say that there has never been a conversation with him or his representatives in which he expressed a desire to leave us,” Ricken told Sport Bild.
“He knows what he has at our club, and we know what we have in him. Our summer signings are also intended to bring him into the game even more. I am confident that this will become increasingly evident on the pitch as well.”
Ricken also confirmed that the Black and Yellows want to retain Gregor Kobel, Waldemar Anton and Julian Ryerson, who, like Guirassy, are under contract until 2028.
“We want to continue working with these players under the right financial conditions. However, we will not provide regular updates on the timeline,” he said when asked about potential contract extensions for the trio.
