Erik ten Hag has signed Brazilian winger Antony twice in the past – first at Ajax and later at Manchester United.

Following ten Hag’s recent appointment as head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, speculation quickly emerged that he could bring Antony to the Bundesliga from Manchester United.

However, a reunion appears unlikely – at least for now.

“I brought him in twice, first to Ajax and then to Manchester United. He was always like a son to me, and he still is. He’s an incredibly talented player with great qualities,” ten Hag told Bild.

“But you always have to assess the current squad and determine what’s needed. At this moment, we are not interested in him," he continued, leaving a door open for a possible move in the future.

“We’ll see what the future holds.”

Bayer Leverkusen have strengthened their attack with the signings of Malik Tillman, Ibrahim Maza, and Christian Kofané so far this summer.
