Germany's dramatic 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast has sparked growing optimism across the country - and now Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß has joined the chorus of believers.

While the veteran football executive stopped short of declaring Germany favourites for the title, he praised the team's fighting spirit and suggested that Julian Nagelsmann's side could go all the way if they continue on their current trajectory.

“It has to be said that Germany produced an incredible fighting performance yesterday. However, there are still some very tough obstacles on the road to the title.”

The 74-year-old pointed to the growing unity within the squad as one of the key reasons for optimism. Under Nagelsmann, Germany have shown a resilience and togetherness that had often been missing in recent major tournaments.

“If they continue to grow together as a team in this way, and if the coach keeps making substitutions as effectively as he did yesterday, then anything is possible.”

Nagelsmann's tactical adjustments proved decisive against the Africans, helping Germany turn a difficult contest into another victory and maintain their perfect start to the tournament.

With six points from two matches, Germany have already secured top spot in Group E and can now approach their final group game against Ecuador without any pressure on the result.
