After clinching their 35th Bundesliga title with a 4-2 win over VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, the players and staff of Bayern Munich wore specially designed championship shirts featuring a cockatoo.

As reported by Bundesliga.com, the story goes back to last season when the record champions celebrated their league title at the Munich restaurant Käfer and jokingly took a cockatoo porcelain figurine home with them.

Since then, the restaurant owner has given the team their new lucky charm, which made its return to the pitch during Sunday’s celebrations.

"He already dominated last year's celebrations, and now he's had to wait a long time for us to let him out of his cage again," FC Bayern Leon Goretzka wittingly said in a post-match interview, according to Bundesliga.com, as he carried the mascot onto the pitch.

"But as soon as we win another trophy, he'll be allowed out to mark the moment with us."

With Bayern having reached the semi-finals of both the DFB-Pokal and the Champions League, Goretzka and co. will be hoping for more good omens from their lucky bird.
