Borussia Dortmund announced the arrival of Aaron Anselmino from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal on Wednesday.

Former Ballon d’Or winner and current Sky Sports pundit Lothar Matthäus remains worried about BVB’s defense despite Anselmino’s addition.

In his column for Sky Germany, Matthäus stated that he doesn’t expect a young player like Anselmino to have a huge impact on Dortmund’s injury-plagued defense.

However, he still likes BVB’s overall squad and believes their defensive problems will get solved once players like Nico Schlotterbeck, Niklas Süle and Emre Can are healthy.

“You can't expect a youth player like Aaron Anselmino, who's coming on loan from Chelsea, to suddenly make Dortmund's defense more stable,” Matthäus wrote.

In his column, Matthäus praised another recent Borussia Dortmund signing, Carney Chukwuemeka, who has joined for around €25 million.

The Germany and Bayern Munich legend described the now former Chelsea midfielder as a “great player” with a “high level of quality.”
