On Friday, it looked like Stefan Posch would be joining TSG Hoffenheim from Bologna, as reports suggested that only the final details needed to be ironed out.

However, the situation has now taken a surprising turn, with Sky Germany reporting that Atalanta have hijacked the deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta have already agreed a deal to sign Posch on loan, leaving his former club empty-handed.

Hoffenheim could now look for an alternative, although time is running out as the German transfer window closes on Monday.

Die Kraichgauer have already signed Bazoumana Touré (Hammarby), Gift Orban (Olympique Lyon) and Jakob Busk (Sønderjyske, loan) and recalled Erencan Yardımcı from his loan at Sturm Graz during the winter transfer window.
