Leon Goretzka produced one of his best performances of the season in Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. The central midfielder registered his first assist since November 2024 before coming close to scoring himself after the break.

"It was a comfortable win,” Goretzka said about Bayern’s display in a post-match interview with Sky. “The goal we conceded was annoying, though. We were caught asleep, which shouldn't happen to us. Otherwise, it was a convincing performance."

The 31-year-old also shared his opinion about Julian Nagelsmann’s statement earlier in the week. “As things stand, Leon Goretzka will have a good chance of playing at the World Cup despite reduced game time at Bayern,” said the Bundestrainer in an exclusive interview with Kicker.

"I didn't interpret his words as a free pass,” Goretzka spoke about his relationship with the national team coach. “I would rather see them as motivation. Nagelsmann and I already had a special connection at FC Bayern. We had a difficult time around the Euros. But I'm proud that I fought my way back into Germany's starting lineup.

“His words didn't surprise me since I played every game in the qualifiers, and I feel very comfortable in that position. I know exactly what Julian (Nagelsmann) expects from me."
