Having scored a crucial goal in Bayern Munich's 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon last night, Max Eberl discussed a potential contract extension for Serge Gnabry.

“We're talking to each other. We're in good and open talks," said the Bavarian club's director of sport in the mixed zone.

Having been tasked with the job of reducing Bayern's considerable wage bill, Eberl discussed a possible pay cut for the 30-year-old.

“We're trying to find a way - on the one hand not to exceed our budget, on the other hand to make an offer that the player can live with.

“I'm talking in general not just about Serge [Gnabry]. That's our task. Hopefully we'll find a way,” Eberl explained.

The German forward, who has been in fine form this campaign, also weighed in on the discussions in a separate interview.

“It’s a very relaxed situation. We’re talking. We’ll see what comes out of it. So far it has been good from both sides. It fits," Gnabry added.
